Andover War Memorial Hospital – MRI Suite

Purpose of the Project
To deliver a new, single-storey MRI imaging suite at Andover War Memorial Hospital, providing the local community and surrounding areas with improved access to MRI services and reducing the need for patients to travel to alternative facilities.
Works Undertaken on Site
Avenue Building Company acted as Principal Contractor, delivering the complete project package including design, building works, electrical and mechanical services, RF cage installation and full site and project management.
ABC worked closely with the local authority, Building Control, Hampshire estates teams and the equipment provider throughout the project, with regular site meetings maintaining coordination, compliance and programme.
Challenges
The project was positioned directly alongside the hospital’s single main access road, requiring carefully managed traffic arrangements to maintain safe patient and visitor access throughout construction.
The existing CT imaging suite was also immediately adjacent to the works, requiring a separate patient access route for the duration of the project.
Careful coordination was essential to deliver the new facility within the agreed programme and budget while meeting the project’s compliance and future environmental requirements.
