Case Study

Princess Elizabeth Hospital – Fluoroscopy Suite

  Location:  Princess Elizabeth Hospital, Guernsey

  Value of Works:  £220,000

Tender & Design Period:  10 weeks

  Time on Site:  6 Weeks

Purpose of the Project

To replace the existing fluoroscopy system within Fluoroscopy Room 3, while improving the layout of the space and creating a better working and patient environment.

The new installation changed the orientation of the equipment and relocated electrical plant outside the main examination room.

Works Undertaken on Site

ABC coordinated the works associated with the replacement system, revised room configuration and relocation of the electrical plant.

The hospital’s staff and users were involved in decisions around final finishes and colour schemes, helping to create a comfortable and appropriate clinical environment.

Challenges

Fluoroscopy Room 3 is positioned in the centre of a live working department. Noise, contractor access and movement through the department therefore had to be carefully coordinated with hospital staff throughout the programme.

The project’s island location also introduced additional procurement and logistics considerations, with the availability and timing of transport crossings affecting the delivery of specialist materials.

Through close communication and planning, the project was completed within budget and programme.
